4th Mitsubishi Electric Cup kick-starts at Manav Rachna

PNN/ Faridabad: Mitsubishi Electric India (MEI) is organizing its 4th Mitsubishi Electric Cup (ME Cup) at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad (MRIIRS) on February 15 & 16 on the theme Digital Industry through Smart Imagination’.

The cup was inaugurated today in the presence of Gaurav Majumdar, Fellow Advisor, Mitsubishi Japan, Hisahiro Nishimoto, Director & Division Head, Factory Automation & Industrial Division, MEI, Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI), Dr. N C Wadhwa, VC, MRIIRS, Rajeev Sharma, Head, Corporate Services & Strategic Planning, Mitsubishi Electric India (MEI), Dr. I K Bhat, VC, Manav Rachna University, Vikram Mattoo, General Manager, Factory Automation Centre, MEI Anita Khosla, Head-EEE, MRIIRS and senior functionaries of Mitsubishi Electric from Japan and India.

Gaurav Majumdar who was the Chief Guest at the inaugural complimented the organising teams and said that such events lay the foundation of preparing super creators of digital platforms globally.

Vikram Mattoo while speaking on the occasion said the competition has received 134 proposals from 72 institutions from across 16 states. Top 35 teams have been shortlisted for the finals which are being held at the Manav Rachna campus. Mitsubishi Electric India has provided technical support, training and Factory Automation equipment such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Servo Motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and Human Machine Interface (HMIs) to the teams to build an analogous system of smart and eco manufacturing. The teams have made working models of various industrial manufacturing processes, energy saving solutions, smart solutions during the course of six to eight months, which are being presented at the two-day event.

Mattoo further said all selected teams will be given a chance to visit MEI factory in Pune to explore and know more about automation world. The winning team will receive a prize of Rs 100,000 and the Winners’ Trophy; the runner-up will get Rs 75,000 and a Trophy and the one bagging the third position will receive Rs. 50,000 as prize money and Trophy. Besides, appreciation prizes of Rs 10,000 along with a certificate will also be given to the selected 15 teams. Other award category for this competition is ‘Most Popular team’, he stated.

Hisahiro Nishimoto said:It is going to be yet another amazing event that will see budding engineering students engage, perform and present some of the best creations in the field of science and technology. Our main objective is to promote skill development of students.  We are excited to see the creative models prepared by students. We will continue to organize such events in the future as well to promote the talent of young engineers in India.”

Dr. Amit Bhalla congratulated all the participating teams and encouraged students to respond with zeal and enthusiasm to the numerous opportunities provided to them. He added: “With the evolving times, Manav Rachna is gearing up for Education 4.0”.

The two-day event comprises an exhibition of working automation models, panel discussions, classroom sessions, inauguration of a robot automation lab, and cultural programs.
